What are our priorities?

In our Women's Bible Study, we are studying Haggai. Now for those of you who don't know Haggai, it is a little two chapter book in the Old Testament. Little in pages, mighty in message. Haggai was a prophet and his task was to oversee the rebuilding of the temple. When the book begins, Haggai had called three men before him. His purpose for the meeting, strongly remind them of their mission.
I have rarely been called before my leaders to be reminded of my mission in my career. In fact, I can only think of once. However, I have been reminded by God of His mission for me many many times. I was strongly rebuked by God. I have a confession, I suffered occasionally from what the people suffered from in Haggai's time. My priorities were out of order.
You see, Haggai had called the men before him to tell them of this fact, and yes, strongly rebuke them. There are times God needs to remind us and strongly rebuke us for not placing Him at the forefront of our priorities.
Matthew 6:24 says, "“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.". When we place worldly priorities in front of our worship, our purpose, and our relationship with God, we are serving two masters. This is true whether we acknowledge it or not.
For Haggai's story, it was the people building their own lavish homes and not rebuilding the temple. I have done all these I'm gong to mention here. For us, it might be building our relationships with others, our careers, our time to ourselves to do what we want, our homes, our businesses, and our own desires. It could be spending time with who we want instead of serving or worship. Whatever we place before the Lord is a master for us. It becomes our priority. Are your thoughts serving another master? I have been strongly rebuked for my priorities and my thoughts! Have you?
