Prayer
Prayer

After our grandson's basketball game yesterday, my husband and I planned a trip to the movies. Mufasa was the movie on tap and pizza was pre-movie meal. My grandson and I share a lot of commonalities, but in the food category it is definitely Hawaiian pizza. We love pineapple and especially on pizza. As we are sitting and waiting on our food, I noticed the people around.

Now, if you know me, you know I'm an observer. I am constantly looking at and assessing my surroundings. I love to people watch. It is amazing what you can learn about others when they don't know you are watching. Last night, I noticed a group of men at another table. Two boys that looked to be in middle school, one man that was obviously their father, a gentleman my age, man in his early twenties and another man who would probably be in his thirties, if I'm guessing correctly. Sometimes ages can be deceiving. No phones except maybe the man in his thirties, although I couldn't see it for sure. This scene was strange because normally everyone is on an electronic device or phone. Look around and it is amazing. Even the young ones are on tablets.

I listened and watched covertly, of course. My husband noticed the oddity too. Then it happened! Before their meal came, they all removed their caps and the older gentleman prayed. My husband and I have prayed with our family in restaurants and with our grandson. This isn't new to us, but we just don't see it often. In fact, almost not at all anymore. It was an outing with just guys, pizza place, no phones, and prayer. Wow!

Matthew 7:20 says, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.". The world knows us by our actions. The world will know who we are and what our priorities are by what we do and don't do. It was obvious from watching this family. By watching what they did and what they did not do, one could easily see what was important and valued. John 13:35. "By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another." What do others see in me?
